Axis 1: Society, Valorization, and Governance

This axis focuses on how communities appropriate infrastructure to generate social value.

A better integration of the three dimensions of social value (economy, environment, and society) throughout the life cycle of major projects is sought after.

By gaining a more accurate understanding of social value, it will be possible to identify best governance practices that encourage and facilitate the involvement of the communities affected.

Among these practices, the provision of support to communities by key infrastructure stakeholders is a path explored in this axis.

Concretely, two research themes are particularly prominent in this axis, namely: ESG factors and climate change.

It aims to address the following questions:

  • How should we approach the creation of social value from infrastructure?
  • How can we anchor infrastructure in a sustainability perspective that promotes triple economic, environmental, and social resilience?
  • How can we envision new infrastructure governance models that are more open and promote appropriation by the affected communities?
