Managing the Unpredictable: Toward More Responsible Infrastructure Projects 

At the 92nd Acfas Congress, Skander Ben Abdallah, researcher and member of the Research Chair INFRA-S, presented an innovative framework for managing uncertainty based on the degree of predictability and controllability of events within project environments. This presentation draws on his SSHRC-funded research project, conducted in collaboration with Serghei Floricel. By integrating real options theory and complexity theory applied to dynamic environments, the framework offers flexible strategies that do not rely on precise forecasting. Aligned with the values of the Research Chair, this work aims to better equip decision-makers for major infrastructure project management that is mindful of social risks.
